The days are getting longer and that can only mean one thing - speedway is back! After a short winter the 2022/23 season at Robertson Prestige International Speedway thunders back into action Saturday 22nd October at 6:30pm with a HUGE night of entertainment!
The midnight oil is being burned in sheds and workshops all over the country as competitors and crews race to be ready for the massive summer of speedway action ahead. With new cars and new drivers plus all your favourites, the opening night is going to be huge on the dirt oval.
The familiar roar of Superstocks hitting the dirt is an institution in Palmerston North, and a quality field of these fearless drivers are ready to set the tone for the season racing in the Lucas Oil Superstock Shootout! Metal crunching Stockcars never disappoint with plenty of new cars, new paint schemes and wild designs - these are the backbone of the sport and always are dedicated to putting on a spectacular show for the fans! Spectacular Super Saloons will hit the track for the Lucas Oil Super Saloon Shootout and put on a spectacular show racing side-by-side! Open-wheel fans will enjoy the field of rapid Minisprints duelling on the dirt, with the prestigious New Zealand Minisprint Championship held later in the season, a quality field of drivers will be wanting to hone in their setups for the much-anticipated season at Robertson Prestige International Speedway. The daredevil Sidecars round out what is expected to be a massive, high adrenaline filled opening night of the 2022/23 Speedway season. If this wasn't enough, fireworks round out the programme!
Its double points night, which is an excellent chance for competitors to get some early runs on the board in the Travel Managers Season Points Chase. Points are awarded for a top six placing in every non-championship race throughout the season, and overall victory in any of the classes is a major achievement, and a tribute to a driver's consistency throughout the season.
Classes in action are Superstocks, Stockcars, Super Saloons, Minisprints, Sidecars and Youth Ministocks (Palmerston North registered cars only).

Admission prices are $25 for an Adult (16 years and over), $10 for Children aged 8-15, and $60 for a Family pass of 2 adults and up to four children. Kids aged 7 and under are FREE.
Tickets can be purchased from our ticket booths on race day at Gate 1 (Waldegrave Street), Gate 2 (Cuba Street - Bridge) and Gate 3 (Cook Street) from 5pm - gate sales only.
