The 'Winged Wonders' are back at the Robertson Holden International Speedway this Saturday night for the PN PartsWorld New Zealand Sprintcar Championship. These are the fastest cars on dirt and will provide motorsport enthusiasts with spectacular wheel-to-wheel racing, as competitors from around New Zealand and USA battle for this prestigious title.
The entry list contains local hero and hard-charging driver Jamie Larsen - a favourite for the event, along with Midget and Sprintcar sensation Michael Pickens coming off the back of a successful International Sprintcar Series and World 50 lap Midget campaign who will be looking to improve on his current 3NZ ranking. The special inclusion of former World of Outlaw driver Craig Dollansky from the USA adds to the spectacular array of drivers attending this national championship.
Formidable drivers from Auckland and Tauranga include Dean Brindle, Daniel Eggleton, Rob Vazey, Rodney Wood and Keaton Dahm. Sprintcar drivers from Cromwell, Christchurch and Nelson are making their way north for the Championship with notable drivers such as Jamie Duff, Mathew Leversedge and Ray Baughan all looking to make their mark on the title silverware.
Local heroes Greg Pickerill, Dean Cooper and Stephen Taylor - current North Island Sprintcar Champion, will look to capitalise on their home track advantage. This is sure to be one of the best nights of high powered spectacular Sprintcar action.
A pair of Superstock teams races add to the action on display - Palmerston North Panthers vs Wanganui Warriors and Manawatu Mustangs vs Stratford Scrappers.
Superstocks, Stockcars and Youth Ministocks round out the packed programme. Admission prices are Adults $25 (16 years and over), $10 for children aged 8-15, and $60 for a family pass of 2 adults and up to four children. 7 and under are FREE.
Public gates open at 4:30pm, Sprintcar warmups from 5:45pm and racing starts at 6:30pm.
