The prestigious Machinery Specialists Manawatu Stockcar Championship will be decided on Saturday night at the Robertson Prestige International Speedway. Add in the return of the thunderous Superstocks racing for a Dash for Cash, Lucas Oil Saloon King of the Arena and the future of Speedway Youth Ministocks, and what a spectacular Saturday night it’s going to be!
The carnage of the metal-crunching Stockcars will battle it out to take the prestigious title honours of the Machinery Specialists Manawatu Stockcar Championship. Defending champion 3nz Kyle Rowe will be looking to continue his impressive season including a current lead on the Travel Managers Seasons Points Chase and winning the recent Peter Barry Stockcar Teams Champs in Meeanee with the Palmerston North Pumas. Other local hard chargers who are all in with the chance of standing on the podium at the end of the night include 31p Jared Davis, 172p Daniel Burmeister, 94p William Humphries, 48p Josh Mulcahy. The Manawatu Stockcar Championship has a rich history of past champions which makes this a title that is always hotly contested.
The familiar roar of Superstocks hitting the dirt is an institution in Palmerston North, and a quality field of these fearless drivers are ready to race for the Dash for Cash. Four races will be included in the programme for the class with two heats, a shootout which the winner will receive $500, and a final race where there is $1500 on offer for the winner. Robertson Prestige International Speedway is home to many of the country’s fastest and most competitive Superstock drivers who are all in with a chance of winning.
Saloons return to the Central Energy Trust Arena in the form of Corvettes, Camaros and Mustangs racing wheel-to-wheel, with a packed field of drivers ready to put on a spectacular show for the inaugural crowning of the Lucas Oil Saloon King of the Arena. The Saloon class has seen some spectacular racing this season with drivers like 37p Paul Hosking, 57p Calvin Honore, 88p Jonathan Mason and 242p Ashleigh King to keep a close eye on during this championship.
Rounding out what will be a packed night at the Robertson Prestige International Speedway, the future of speedway, Youth Ministocks. This class has fostered many speedway competitors into other classes, and the skill of these young drivers is something to admire. Many New Zealand Champions started their speedway racing career driving in the Ministock class.

Please note: Out of town contracted cars, before your name will appear on any confirmed drivers lists a clearance from your home track is required if your track is running the class. This is a Speedway New Zealand rule.
Tickets are available to pre-purchase online from www.ticketek.co.nz, (tickets purchased incur an additional service fee) or on race day from Gate 1 (Waldegrave Street), Gate 2 (Cuba Street - Bridge) and Gate 3 (Cook Street) from 5pm. Racing starts at 6pm.
Admission prices are $30 for an Adult (16 years and over), $10 for Children aged 8-15, and $70 for a Family pass of 2 adults and up to four children. Kids aged 7 and under are FREE.
