Friday night saw the first half of the new 'King of the Arena' meeting at the Robertson Holden International Speedway, with action in Stockcar qualifying and clear leaders in the Superstock and Sidecar best pairs. Racing continues tonight from 6:30pm as kings will be crowned.

The 57-car field were split in half for three heats each, with the top 14 pointscorers from each group progressing to Saturday night's finals. White Group was topped by this season's Robin Pratt Memorial winner 6v Dion Mooney, followed closely by 9w Bryce Jensen with a big gap back to third placed 89v Blair Lockett. There was excitement when 172p Daniel Burmeister and 28p Mitchell Pescini were tied for the final qualifying spot, with Burmeister victorious in a 4-lap runoff.
Red Group was dominated by 722p David Lowe and 5b Regan Penn, with the trio of 5w Josh Prentice, 18p Luke Healey and 77b Jason Penn separated by a point each completing the top six. A repechage will decide the last two spots in the final heats tonight, with a second tier title also available for non-qualifiers.
Auto Interiors King of the Arena Superstock Best Pairs
An excellent 17 pairings lined up for the Superstock Best Pairs, with heat wins going to 5w Keegan Levien, 32p Graeme Barr and 28s Blair Uhlenberg. The father-daughter duo of 32p Graeme Barr and 34p Rebecca Barr are well out in front with 163 accumulated points, followed by Uhlenberg and 31p Andy McCabe on 135. A single point behind are 144g Tim Ross and 9p Brett Hyslop, who was actually the top single pointscorer on the night. The siblings 28p Ricky Dykstra and 38p Zane Dykstra are next on 130, and with a possible 189 points still available on the second night there's still plenty to race for!

A quality Sidecar field saw a total of 12 races on Friday, with the same number again on Saturday night. 22g Jason Rees & Callum Innes and 97p Mike Zachan & Ben Franklin are the top pairing with 27 points out of a possible 30, followed by 8p Rob Miller & Raymond George and 21p Glen Murray & Ann Plummer on 20 points. The unbeaten 96p Mark Whye & Jacob Cooper along with 32p Sam Carter & Haydn Combs are a point behind, equal with 24p Stu Sowry & Dean Harding and Simon & Austin Windelborn.
