The midnight oil is being burned in sheds and workshops all over the country, as competitors and crews race to be ready for the massive summer of speedway action ahead. With new cars and new drivers plus all your favourites, the opening night is going to be huge on the dirt oval at the Robertson Prestige International Speedway.
The familiar roar of Superstocks hitting the dirt is an institution in Palmerston North and a quality field of these fearless drivers are ready to set the tone for the season racing in the Lucas Oil Superstock Shootout Series! Metal crunching Stockcars never disappoint with plenty of new cars, new paint schemes and wild designs - these are the backbone of the sport and always are dedicated to putting on a sensational show for the fans! Spectacular Super Saloons will hit the dirt for the Lucas Oil Super Saloon Shootout Series and put on a thrilling show racing side-by-side! The return of your favourite Historic Stockcars from yesteryear will bring back all the memories of the days gone by. Add in Saloons with the Mustangs, Corvettes and Camaros racing door handle to door handle and finally, the daredevil Sidecars round out what is expected to be a massive, high adrenaline filled opening night of the 2024/25 speedway season. What a massive night of family entertainment, you won’t want to miss!
It's also double points night, which is an excellent chance for competitors to get some early runs on the board in the Travel Managers Season Points Chase. Points are awarded for a top six placing in every non-championship race throughout the season, and overall victory in any of the classes is a major achievement, and tribute to a driver's consistency throughout the season.
Classes in action are Superstocks, Stockcars, Super Saloons, Sidecars, Historic Stockcars, Saloons and Youth Ministocks - PN Registered Cars only.
