Saturday night's meeting should provide fun for the whole family at the Robertson Holden International Speedway. From the unique Demon Energy Demolition Derby Ramp Race, to the Manawatu Standard Fireworks Spectacular, the action will be non-stop. Add to this the Ray Tarrant Memorial for Sidecars, along with the Shownight Cup for Superstocks and you have a recipe for entertainment.
A field of road cars with windows and headlights removed will battle it out for the always popular Demon Energy Demolition Derby. Extra thrills and spills are provided by a ramp that must be negotiated during their travels around the Arena, along with duelling the other maniacs on the track.
To celebrate Guy Fawkes, the night will be capped off with a huge fireworks display, proudly brought to you by the Manawatu Standard. You can't buy these huge rockets down at the big red shed!
The Ray Tarrant Memorial trophy should draw an excellent field of Sidecars from far and wide. Ray was the announcer here at the Speedway for many years and was an ardent supporter of Sidecars. He was also instrumental in putting together the sponsorship package with 2XS in 1980, which over time has morphed into More FM.
Superstocks will be racing for the traditional Shownight Cup, which was run in conjunction with the old A & P Show at the Arena for many years. Completing the program are Stockcars, Minisprints and Youth Ministocks.
Racing starts at 6:30pm, admission prices are Adults $25 (16 years and over), $10 for children aged 8-15, and $60 for a family pass of 2 adults and up to four children.
