An excellent field of 30 Superstocks faced the starter for the opening heat of three, with visitor and former champion 19c Malcolm Ngatai powering to victory ahead of 58p Peter Bengston and 94p William Humphries. 3nzp Simon Joblin won the second heat comfortably from 581p Jordan Dare and 95p Clive Elliot. Ngatai struggled all race and Humphries suffered a puncture, while Bengston’s fourth place saw him top the points table heading into the final heat on 56. Elliot was two behind after a pair of solid finishes, with Joblin two points further back on 52 and Dare had accumulated 49 points.

The points leader was hindered successfully in the third heat by 557c Darrel Wallace, with 62p Adam Joblin taking the chequered flag ahead of Dare and 38p Zane Dykstra. Simon Joblin’s fifth place saw him first equal with Dare overall on 78 points, clinching the Manawatu title in a 4-lap runoff. 71p Shane Mellsop’s consistency nabbed him the final spot on the podium six points adrift, with Ngatai a further three points behind in fourth.

Twenty cars lined up for a pair of reverse-grid qualifying heats, determining grid positions for a 20-lap final race. 2nzp Shane Dewar scored 35 points from a possible 40 and would start on pole, ahead of 18s Daniel Nickel who scored 33 points, 58s Bayley Betts with 31 and equal on 30 points were 72p Elliot Heron and 82s Cameron Hurley. First heat winner 53v Dylan Smith started down the field after a tumble in the second heat, while 10s Shaun Dickie was out for the night after a rollover in the opener. Dewar won at a canter to defend his Manawatu title ahead of the consistent Nickel and Heron, with Betts unlucky to finish off the podium after his best showing here since moving up from Ministocks.
